The Thermomix TM7 is a beautiful machine — a 10-inch touchscreen, a near-silent motor, and a price tag to match at around $2,649. And yet most of us will happily buy a $15 case for a phone and leave a $2,649 appliance completely exposed on the bench.

1. The screen — your most exposed (and expensive) surface
The TM7's standout feature is also its most vulnerable. That big, bright display sits right at toddler height and right in the splash zone. The two everyday threats are simple:
- Little hands. Greasy fingerprints, curious taps mid-cook, the occasional wooden spoon or toy car making contact.
- Splashes and steam from whatever you are cooking next to it.

2. The motor — the part the TM7 leaves exposed
Here is something that surprises a lot of upgraders: unlike the TM5 and TM6, the TM7's motor section is exposed whenever the bowl is removed. That is exactly when dust settles in, and exactly when a knock during cleaning or transport can do real — and expensive — damage.
A motor cover caps that section while the bowl is in the wash or the machine is on the move. If you are a consultant carting your Thermomix to demonstrations, this is the one we would put at the top of your list.
3. The bowl and scales — stability you did not know you were missing
The TM7's built-in scales are accurate to the gram, but weighing into a second bowl on top can be wobbly — and one slip sends flour or milk straight into the motor section. A scale plate adaptor gives you a wider, lower, more stable surface to weigh on, and keeps spills away from the parts that matter.
Do not forget transport and storage
Most TM7 damage does not happen during cooking — it happens when the machine is moving or sitting unused. Covers earn their keep here: screen and motor protected in the car, on the bench between uses, or in the cupboard away from dust.
