A Thermomix earns its place on the bench, but it is not a small appliance — and in a compact kitchen it can quickly take over. After years of making accessories for exactly this problem, here are the fixes that genuinely help.
Deal with the Varoma first
The Varoma is the single most awkward thing to store. It is bulky, it is an odd shape, and it usually ends up swallowing a whole cupboard shelf or sitting out permanently. An under-cupboard Varoma holder lifts it up out of the way entirely and gives you the shelf back — one of our most quietly satisfying products.
Give the wet spatula somewhere to go
Every cook has done it: a dripping spatula on the benchtop between steps, leaving a trail. A wet spatula tray catches the drips in one spot, and there is a larger version if you tend to have a few things on the go.
Stack vertically, not sideways
Small kitchens run out of bench before they run out of wall or shelf. The scale plate, spatula and lid cap stand is a good example — it takes three loose items that would otherwise sprawl across the bench and gives them a single small footprint.
Keep the sink zone tidy too
It is not strictly Thermomix, but a cluttered sink makes a small kitchen feel much smaller. A sponge tray keeps the sponge from sitting in a wet ring on the bench, and it drains properly rather than going slimy.
Decide what actually lives on the bench
Be honest about what you use daily. For most people that is the machine, the spatula and the scale plate — everything else can go in a cupboard. Once you have a home for each of those three, the bench stays clear almost by itself.
One less thing to move
The final trick in a tight kitchen is simply moving the machine less. If yours has to shuffle around, protect it — a motor cover means the exposed motor section is not collecting dust or catching knocks every time it gets shifted.
